The first one, “Fashion and Luxury Management” will be held from July 11th to July 22nd 2016. It will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and specific features of an economic sector that is undergoing constant change, and to discover French fashion and luxury from behind the scenes. Courses will include the economics of fashion and luxury, branding and merchandising, iconic luxury brands and communication, and international development strategies. Workshops and field trips will be organized in Paris and give participants the opportunity to visit exceptional places and meet players of major luxury brands.

The second program called “A French cultural experience: fashion, gastronomy, perfumes” is offered jointly with La Fabrique school of applied arts from July 11th to July 22nd 2016. It will introduce students to French savoir-faire and allow them to experience hands-on some of the unique techniques of French craftsmanship. Courses will be held at IFM and La Fabrique by leading faculty and experts, and workshops will be organized at La Fabrique (saddle-stitching and leather), Ferrandi Paris school of culinary arts (pastry specialty making) and Isipca school of perfumery (creating an eau-de-toilette). Visits to museums, fashion exhibitions and a Parisian Métier d’art workshop will complete this program.

Both of these new programs are offered in English and open to participants aged 18 or over, who are either currently enrolled in higher education or recent graduates. They may come from any academic background. No previous knowledge of fashion, design and luxury is required but applicants must show a genuine interest in these topics.

IFM Summer School programs are 1- or 2 week courses intended for high-school or university-level students, which offer an insight into the basics of fashion and luxury culture and an overall view of the creative industries from all angles: culture, careers, economy, digital, products, creative processes, issues of image and communication.

A specific Dual City program is offered in partnership with London’s Central Saint Martins to fashion students or new professionals who wish to broaden and enrich their design experience in two great fashion capitals. To attend this practical course participants must have completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree in fashion or have at least three years fashion industry experience and be competent in pattern making and sewing.

Two other Summer programs for students are offered for French-speaking participants: “Management et culture de mode” and “Marketing de la mode et processus créatif”. And four other programs are organized for French-speaking high school students aged 15 to 18: “Panorama du monde de la mode”, “Le produit de mode et sa création”, “La marque de mode et sa communication” and “Do you speak Fashion English?”.
