Target Corp has announced the departure of Jason Goldberger, president of its website Target.com, four months after he was promoted to the position of chief digital officer. The company has not mentioned any reason for his sudden departure just before the Holiday season.

Goldberger’s responsibilities are now split between two executives - Chief Information Officer Mike McNamara, who will oversee the website and digital strategy and Chief Merchandising Officer Mark Tritton will take over pricing and promotions. Tritton joined Target on June 5, the day Goldberger assumed position of the chief digital officer.

Goldberger’s team had recently launched a new mobile-optimised website. This high-profile exit comes after the company’s chief marketing officer Jeff Jones put in his papers earlier this month to join Uber and around the time when company is struggling to grow sales. For the second quarter, Target posted declines in its comparable sales as well as earnings and lowered its expectations for the second half as well as the full year.
