The creative team of designer minds Emily Current and Meritt Elliot have decided to return to their former glory: denim. The fashion partnership was established in the late nineties. The originative duo has styled multiple editorials, directed advertising campaigns, and have styled celebrities for red carpet events. Their first denim encounter started with their eponymous brand Current/Elliot which launched in 2008.

The dynamic partnership became members of the elite Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in the Spring of 2012. Last year, the two published a book by Rizzoli entitled “A Denim Story: Inspirations From Bell-bottoms to Boyfriends” circling their fashion journey from amateurs to professionals. Their impressive past collaborations include the prestigious Kate Spade New York and inimitable Pottery Barn. Flash forward to three years later and the team is back in action, bringing denim to their newest collection named The Great.

Current and Elliot transition from sportswear to denim

The contemporary collection is a great extension to their edgy sportswear brand. The denim addition will include about six jean fits, along with corresponding denim jackets, dresses, and overalls. The fits include categories such as “dude slim” and “super high rise” in order to cater to the needs of their customers. The casual collection runs in price range from about 265 to 325 dollars. The denim complements their line very well, revealing the true style minds of Current and Elliot.

The overall vintage feel creates a lax perspective on the denim designed for the collection. In their smooth transition from sportswear to denim, the two embody a trend that is so natural to their innate style, leaving The Great collection with a viable product.
