Monsoon Accessorize, the UK-based fashion retailer which operates three brands, has decided to “end the use of angora in all future production” of its apparel and accessories.

The decision to cut angora out of it collection comes after animal rights group Peta, revealed its under-cover investigation into angora fur farms in China, which highlighted the ongoing animal cruelty behind the practice.

“Following concerns raised about the treatment of angora rabbits in Chinese farms, during 2013-14, we conducted detailed audits of the farms used by our suppliers,” said Monsoon Accessorize in a statement. “These audits confirmed that live plucking was not used anywhere in our supply chain.”

“However, despite the above, we recognise that some of our customers still feel uncomfortable with the continued inclusion of angora in our ranges.” Therefore the retailer has decided to stop using angora. Monsoon Accessorize has joined a growing list of global fashion brands, including Asos, Stella McCartney and French Connection, banning the use of angora.
