Wolford, the luxury hosiery company, has confirmed Ashish Sensarma as its new chief executive.

The Austrian company will see Sensarma head up the role in January and joins the company from luxury swimwear brand Vilebrequin where he was COO. He previously worked at Dutch retailer Mexx from when it was founded until it was sold to Liz Claiborne in 2006.

In addition to leading corporate strategy at Wolford, Sensarma will head up the company’s marketing and sales functions. Company chairwomen Dr Antonella Mei-Pochtler, said: “[Sensarma] is an optimal addition to our strong management team contributing specific international marketing and sales expertise, two areas of importance for our company’s success. His proficiency in driving profitable growth and passion for creating consumer satisfaction are exactly what we need.”

In November, Wolford appointed former Hugo Boss, Donna Karan, Max Mara, and Daniel Hechter designer Grit Seymour to the role of creative director.
