After a first successful collection around the theme of « Disney villains », sold in 2014 at the Champs-Elysées Disney Store, the student designers of IFM’s Postgraduate Program in Fashion Design have imagined several capsule collections inspired by Star Wars. A selection of these collections, produced in limited edition, is showcased at the Designers section on the 1st floor of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, and sold as of November 4th on the 4th floor of the department store, in the new Disney Store space.

Designers from IFM’s Fashion Design program worked on a brief from Disney teams in order to design and develop garments and accessories around the topic of Star Wars. The most creative proposals were subsequently selected by a jury of professionals in order to be produced.

« Inspiring the designers of tomorrow, promoting their talent, sharing with them a certain idea of creation: such were Disney’s motivations to partner with IFM, in order to distinguish the talent and creativity of its students », says Hélène Messager, Head of Fashion and Home at Disney.

Through this project, the designers were given the opportunity to experiment design around a detailed brief, teamwork as in a mini-studio, printed fabric (with its associated technical constraints) then product development and pricing towards commercialization.

« For designers who often ambition to work in luxury and couture, this partnership with Disney offers an alternative view on fashion, in touch with business realities and an industrial production process », says Hans de Foer, Director of IFM’s Postgraduate Program in Fashion Design (Garment, Accessory, Image).

This partnership is in line with the values of creativity and innovation of the two institutions.

Disney artists find their inspiration from multiple sources, which allows Disney to constantly renew itself, in order to remain in keeping with current trends and also be a trendsetter. Artists from all horizons have often collaborated with Disney, which offers an inspirational universe for the most renowned fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy or Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
