Singer Rihanna presented her debut clothing collection during London Fashion Week to celebrate her collaboration with high street fashion chain River Island.Held at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street, the catwalk was set up more like amusic stage featuring a multi-level, podium-like installation, which each model navigated and stopped at each level to give the fashion crowd a great look at each piece.
The collection itself, which is for spring/summer not autumn/winter 2013 like with the other shows held during London Fashion Week, consists of 120 pieces ranging from full-length black dresses with thigh-high splits, sheer black and white shirts, satin bomber jacket, and numerous crop top designs.
Billed as being inspired by street wear, this collection had the flavour of Rihanna’s style mixed in with a dose of the Nineties with the dungaree-style dresses, the red Baywatch-style body and the simple spaghetti strap dresses.
Launching on March 5, the collection also includes a range of accessories including snapback caps, ankle boots and rucksacks, with prices starting from 18 pounds.
The line will be available from selected River Island stores globally and online, as well as exclusively in America and Japan at Opening Ceremony.
