Total sales for the week ending October 28, 2017 at John Lewis were 98.7million pounds (130 million dollars), down 4 percent on the same week last year. Fashion sales, the company said, were down 1.9 percent due to unseasonably warm weather in many parts of the country and a competitor promotion being run on fewer fashion and beauty products than last year.

John Lewis added that home sales were down 2 percent primarily due to fewer promotions but lighting sales and Cookshop were positively impacted with sales up 20.5 percent and 4.1 percent respectively. Furniture sales also grew 1.9 percent and Halloween products were up 19 percent, while electrical and home technology sales were down 7 percent.
