Amazon will begin selling its cashierless technology to retailers. This is the same technology that is used for Amazon Go stores, which allows shoppers to enter a store by scanning the Go app and exit without dealing with a checkout line. Cameras and sensors track what items customers choose and charge them when they leave.

CNBC reported that Amazon has already inked several deals with retailers who are trying to bring in cashierless payments into stores. Amazon has not stated which companies will be using the technology. It has been reported that Amazon has been in talks to offer this technology to concession stands at baseball stadiums.

The cashierless technology takes a few weeks to install, and when it comes to existing stores they will have to work with retailers to install the technology without disrupting daily operations. Compared to Amazon Go stores, where users scan the Amazon Go app on a turnstile, shoppers will stand their credit card at a turnstile with the Just Walk Out technology. Receipts will be e-mailed to them afterwards.

In addition to selling its cashierless technology, Amazon is continuing to build out its network of 25 Amazon Go Stores, and they also launched Amazon Go Grocery in Seattle. Go stores will begin accepting cash after they faced scrutiny for discriminating against people without bank accounts.

Growing their grocery store footprint has become a key part of Amazon's business ever since they acquired Whole Foods in 2017. Other Go Grocery stores can be expected to be announced in the near future.
