Bloomingdale's spotlights LA style icons

Bloomingdale’s celebrated in Los Angeles last week on April 9th to highlight L.A. style icons. The icons included seven different men who were diverse culturally and each had a unique sense of style. These icons that demonstrate L.A. menswear are Blake Mycoskie, Franklin Sirmans, Manish Dayal, Roy Choi, Jonny Wujek, Tom Leach, and Garrett Leight.

Blake Mycoskie, founder of Toms, adds distinct casualwear to Bloomingdale’s with a strong L.A. vibe. His apparel includes neutral-toned button downs, hoodies, sweaters, jeans, pants, and overall lax menswear. “Part of my style is based on travel, finding things and bringing them back,” said Mycoskie of the line. In addition to his stylish travelwear, of course Toms shoes are also available to shoppers. Prices for his style range from 48 to 398 dollars.

As a major force in the arts industry, Franklin Sirmans brings his polished L.A. style to the company. Comprised of mostly suits, formal wear, button-down shirts, and some accessories; Sirman’s brings an elegance to the high-end apparel of Bloomingdale's. Sirman’s “style” ranges from 49.50 to 2,295 dollars.

Another of L.A.’s style icons include actor Manish Dayal. “To me, LA is laid-back but still sharp,” said Dayal. His suit-and-tie attire ranges from 58 to 1,895 dollars. His look includes an eclectic collection with sharp ties and formal attire, while still having available selections for gym wear.

L.A. style icons celebrated at Beverly Center

Roy Choi, known for his graphic street style as well as for his chef skills, has a strong easygoing L.A. vibe. His style includes 53 items ranging from leather hooded jackets to graphic printed tee’s. “I like to wear graphics or patterns that take a moment to figure out,” said Choi.

Johnny Wujek, known for his everyday style, comprised his looks of comfy apparel for men. His choices include jean jackets, henley shirts, hoodies, polos, and shoes. Wujek’s style is known for its chic L.A. edge. As accessories are a huge part of Wujek’s street style, it’s an essential part of his Bloomingdale’s look. Accessories available in his style include studded caps, baseball hats, Beats headphones, and leather backpacks.

Known as a production head, Tom Leach was also chosen to illustrate L.A. style as an icon. Leach keep his look basic with 22 pieces to demonstrate his style in Bloomingdale’s. With plaid shirts, henley shirts, plain tee’s, baseball caps, and running shoes; Leach’s style encompasses an all-american classic look.

Lastly, Garrett Leight was called upon from the Bloomingdale’s executives to add to their list of L.A. style inspirers. His look is comprised of parka jackets, sunglasses, leather bags, and high class sneakers. His apparel ranges in price from 90 to 995 dollars.

These seven men were all chosen in order to demonstrate their take on L.A. fashion. “We came in and did some research and found seven guys that were diverse, with different ages and different looks,” Kevin Hartner, vice president for men’s fashion direction at Bloomingdale’s, told WWD.

These leading icons from last fall season were celebrated at the Bloomingdale’s retail store in Beverly Center. The shopping event then turn into a party in Beverly Hills at the Palm restaurant. After the event, the style icons went straight back to work on current projects. Wujek is working with Katy Perry’s upcoming tour wardrobe and Leight’s opening up his first brick-and-mortar stores. These L.A. icons were picked by Bloomingdale’s as the seven men to watch for the season. Their professional accomplishments teamed with their effortless style give these seven men a natural advantage for success.
