Between the two documentaries that have debuted about Yves Saint Laurent's history in 2014, he's easily one of the most beloved figures in fashion history.

Many would love a glimpse into what the designer's work life was really like, but now they can finally stand their chance. When the Pierre-Berge Yves Saint Laurent foundation in Paris reopens in 2017 as a permanent museum, visitors will now be able to visit the couturier's studio and salons for the first time.

Stage designer Nathalie Criniere and interior designer Jacques Grange are heading up the renovation of the exhibit. The two have collaborated together on a number of the foundation's exhibits since it opened in 2004. The space will double in size and be refurbished in the style of Saint Laurent's original couture salon.

The display will be keeping things very fresh all the time as well. It will be constantly updated with pieces from the house's archives, which include 5,000 couture garments and 15,000 accessories, in addition to thousands of sketches, collection boards, and photographs.

The 2017 Paris opening of the museum is meant to coincide with the inauguration of another Saint Laurent museum in Marrakech on Rue Yves Saint Laurent near Jardin Majorelle. The space is a garden the designer and and Berge turned into a cultural site with a museum of Berber culture.

Studio KO, the French architecture firm, is heading up the Moroccan project. The building will be over 43,000 square feet, and will house a permanent display of Saint Laurent's work staged by Christophe Martin. In addition, there will also be a space for temporary exhibitions, an auditorium, a research library, a cafe, and a restaurant.
