David Meister, creative director and CEO of David Meister Enterprises, is relaunching his collection for fall with Groupe JS International.

The brand partnered with ACI Licensing Inc., a Los Angeles based company, last September. The new relaunch came from the fact that Groupe JS International can effectively produce the quality of garments that the David Meister label needs. “They have Monique Lhuillier, Cynthia Rowley, and a lot of other people at the same price point and same quality level,” said Meister of Groupe JS International. “It’s a family owned business…[and] I know they can produce the quality and the type of garment that I and customers expect,” said Meister.

Meister lived and worked in New York previously for eight years. In making a move to L.A., Meister worked in the city for six years creating his collection. “In this past year, it was time to mix it up a bit. I’m doing the same exact collection, but with more capability now that I’m partnered with Groupe JS,” said Meister.

Their customer base ranges from the ages of 18-70. Their core customer is anywhere from ages 35 to early 50’s in Southern California. “Southern California is a big market for us,” said Meister. “[SoCal consumers] are looking for clothes that are sexy and modern, but not overdone. A lot of my clothes are season-less and lightweight, which also makes the clothes wearable year round,” said Meister.

Meister said the biggest change that will affect his collection and customer base will be the freedom of being able to do different types of intricate beading and ornamentation. “The actual fit, look, and style aesthetic will still be true to the [original] style,” said Meister.

He expects that the relaunch will go well, considering that the responses to his fall line were positive. Starting in July this year, SoCal stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstroms, and Bloomingdales will carry the David Meister line.
