The situation at Lanvin is reaching critical levels since creative director Alber Elbaz was ousted from the French fashion house last week, with former French minister of culture Jack Lang issuing an statement denouncing the recent events.

According to WWD, Lang - who had attended Lanvin fashion shows in the past - called the decision ‘incomprehensible and shocking’. “I can only share the fervent wish of the Lanvin employees who are strongly and rightly calling for the return of this great designer. This dismissal is an unbearable and unspeakable injustice,” he said.

Earlier this week, the conflict between Lanvin management and staff escalated when Charles-Henry Paradis, a member of the works council representing staff on the board, accused the management of attempting to stall the procedure to bring majority shareholder Shaw-Lan Wang back to answer questions regarding the dismissal of Elbaz. Wang is believed to have been the one to oust the designer from the company.
