Trendstop brings FashionUnited readers an insight into the latest looks from the top collections shown at Fall Winter 2021-22 edition of Milan Fashion Week.

With the comfort factor high on the agenda in Milan, tactile textures, muted calming tones and subdued sensibility dominated the designer offerings. But a cautious optimism did prevail however, and many collections came infused with underlying positive messages and hope for the future, be it venturing once again into the great outdoors or looking further ahead to a world beyond.

Prada

As glimmers of hope appear on the horizon an air of positivity peeped through at Prada. Topping off the cosy knitwear and comforting foundation garments, the Italian house introduced some exuberance in the form of sparkling paillettes on faux fur trimmed wraps. Combining protection with elegance is Prada’s way forward in the new normal with touches of electric yellow signalling even better times ahead.

Max Mara

Tactility was key to Max Mara’s latest collection as the label’s signature professional and functional pieces were transformed with cuddly, teddy textures, cosy oversized knits and cashmere softness. Waxed finishes, gilet silhouettes and vintage headscarves alluded to British countryside pursuits as designer Ian Griffiths integrated his UK roots with the house’s Italian heritage.

Ferragamo

Ferragamo looked even further into the future with a virtual reality and CGI presentation that referenced sci-fi and space exploration. Rethinking formalwear and imagining it for a new post-pandemic generation of conscious consumers, designer Paul Andrew combined the directionality of stretchy all-in-ones, slim tailored looks and contemporary construction techniques with the use of sustainable materials such as biodegradable PVC and chrome-free leathers.
