In the day and age of fashion and social media, runway shows have become more about spectacle than ever. As with any good spectacle, your stage is important. For the site of their next cruise collection show, Louis Vuitton has selected the Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum in Rio De Janeiro.

The art museum is very futuristic looking, almost resembling a building out of The Jetsons. The man responsible for the building is famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Timing couldn't be more perfect for Nicholas Ghesquiere to select Rio de Janeiro as the city for his latest cruise show. His show, which will take place on May 28, comes around three months before Rio plays host to the Olympic games. It also coincides with the museum's 20th anniversary, and marks the first time they have hosted a fashion show.

Louis Vuitton will support four exhibitions at the museum over the next year, with the first titled "Ephemera" scheduled to open this June. Artists featured include Lygia Clark, Cildo Meirles, and Antonio Dias.

Ghesquiere told WWD that he chose this venue because it was “about being transported into a relationship where nature, geography and architecture come together.”

Cruise collection season will officially begin on May 3, with Chanel showing in Havana, Cuba.
