Los Angeles - Ever since Snapchat came out with specialty spectacles, the pair of glasses in question have been highly coveted by social media users. After months of teasing the glasses, the company quietly just opened its own retail front in Venice which the retail spectacles are now offered until they sell out.

The spectacles were first released in secret with special vending spots or "Snapbots" including one near the company’s headquarters in Venice Beach. The machine was announced through the brand’s website and its popularity spread like wildfire. The website would show the bot's exact location once it was up. Each vending machine quickly sold out through its supply of these spectacles, which retail for 129.99 dollars a piece. From then on, Snapchat users followed the brand’s website awaiting the next announced destination for these special glasses.

Snapchat opens new brick-and-mortar for spectacles in Venice

These spectacles allow for users to snap from their own personal view, with a built-in wireless video camera installed. The glasses come in three colorways including coral, black, and teal. Because of the handsfree feature of these glasses as well as their underground hype, these spectacles have become high in demand by many users. Luckily, Snapchatters don’t have to wait until the next Snapchat bot or “vending machine” to snag a pair.

The company announced today that it will sell these glasses at its new brick-and-mortar store located in Venice Beach. Located off of Ocean Front Walk, the shop will open everyday at 11 a.m. Snapchat has not confirmed whether or not this will be a permanent or temporary store. In addition to the store, the spectacles will now also be available through the website. After months of hyping this product with unknown, mysterious pop-up locations; the spectacles are finally in range for any customer.

With the glasses retailing at 129.99 dollars each, it’ll be interesting to see how Snap, the parent company of Spectacles, fares during the online launch. So far, Snapchat has not dabbled too much with sales from its users. A couple months back, the app offered lenses and filters for an additional purchase, but the company quickly changed its features to free lenses again. The company suffered a bit of backlash after charging for the lenses from users, which is most likely why Snapchat decided to get rid of the purchase option altogether.

In this new venture, however, Snapchat seems to be marketing on a product that optimizes the user's experience. As a retail endeavor, the glasses may end up being very popular for Snapchat, as so far each vending machine has always sold out. Launching today, the funky spectacles are currently available for purchase in-store or online at www.spectacles.com.
