Canada Goose has named Woody Blackford their new executive vice president of design and merchandising. Blackford will join the company this fall from Columbia Sportswear Co. where he was vice president of global design an innovation.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Blackford joined Columbia Sportswear Co. in 2005 as a senior designer and gradually worked his way up through the company to become vice president of global design an innovation. Prior to that he was director of design and sourcing at Sierra Designs. He has also held positions at Canadian Tire, The Trail Shop, Freestyle Windsurfing, Maritime Sports World, and Trail Head.

The Financial Post recently reported that Canada Goose's losses were smaller than feared thanks to demand for 1000 dollar parks in Europe and Asia. The company is currently working on its direct-to-consumer business and investing in e-commerce to make up for sales at struggling department stores.
