In a unanimous decision from Furla's board, Alberto Camerlengo has been named the new chief executive officer of Furla. Camerlengo previously served as the general director of the Italian accessories company.

He succeeds Eraldo Poletto, who became the ceo of the Salvatore Ferragamo group last August.

Camerlengo joined Furla in 2011. Prior to that, he was ceo of Brooks Brothers Europa. He also served as the chief operating officer of Fossil Italia from 1999 to 2004.

Giovanna Furlanetto, president of Furla, said the appointment of Camerlengo “is a strong sign of continuity and reflects the company’s path of growth and development.”

Furla had a very successful year in 2016. Revenues rose 24.5 percent to 422 million euros. Profits were not disclosed, but according to Camerlengo they rose 48 percent before interest, taxes, and depreciation. Retail sales accounted for 64 percent of revenue. In 2016, Furla opened 29 stores, 12 of which were franchised.
