Retailers are getting very competitive as we head into the 2018 holiday season, championing to be the most convenient shopping source for the consumer with countless omnichannel shopping options. Last week, Target introduced its mobile checkout option that allows in-store customers a speedier checkout experience, and Nordstrom announced its early-bird pickup feature for customers to shop online and pick up their purchases during a wide window of time from the curb of a Nordstrom store location.
Now Amazon has announced its plan to stay sharp with the competition for holiday sales. The retailer is offering free shipping to any shopper in the U.S., regardless of purchase amount. Ordinarily, Amazon’s free shipping is available to its Prime members and any non-Prime member who spends over 25 dollars.
Competitors Target and Walmart have already announced similar offers, with Target giving free two-day shipping on many items without a membership and Walmart giving free shipping to purchases of 35 dollars or higher.
Amazon’s free shipping initiative is offered for items that will arrive in time for Christmas. In addition to this offer, Amazon has increased the amount of items that are available for free same-day delivery to Prime members.
