A total of 70 Macy’s shops across the United States now feature a virtual reality experience, thanks to a partnership between the department store chain and retail technology company Marxent. Shoppers get to design a living space and visualize what Macy’s furniture looks like in it.

“Macy’s is constantly looking for ways to bring excitement and fresh experiences to our customers”, said the retailer in a statement, adding that the partnership is “the largest virtual reality rollout in retail history”.

The two companies plan to expand the project to an additional 20 stores in January 2019. Macy’s did not disclose whether it intends to use virtual reality for other product categories, such as fashion, in the future.
