Moving from the digital space to a brick-and-mortar, Depop is officially opening its first location in Los Angeles. The London-based company just launched its new store in Silver Lake this past Thursday, March 22.

The new store will serve as a creative space for designers in the fashion industry, allowing users to highlight their pieces. “We want people to be able to showcase and promote their own work,” Depop founder Simon Beckerman told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a place where we could give back to our creative community that reflects the vibe of the area.” The area will also allow for Depop to connect more closely with its customers, instead of solely relying on the digital space. Coinciding with the launch, Depop will showcase its Best of L.A. capsule collection. The collection consists of a curated selection from its popular users that will stay on display until April 15.

Founded in 2012, Depop launched originally as a global marketplace. The space allows for designers and creatives to sell and buy clothing all in one interactive community. With the retail space, Depop is able to translate its app into a networking area. Along with showcasing popular collections, it seems the store will serve as a starting point for the brand's growth in retail.
