Nordstrom has announced plans to close its stores at MacArthur Center in Norfolk, Virginia and Wellington Green in Wellington, Florida. A total of 85 employees will be affected in Norfolk, while in Wellington 65 people will lose their jobs. Customers will be served until April 5.

According to a company statement, the department store chain noticed the aforementioned stores were not performing so well. “We keep a close eye on the long-term performance of our stores, real estate agreements and the future needs of our business”, said Jamie Nordstrom, president of Nordstrom stores. “Looking at the needs in these markets and the investments needed to sustain these stores, we decided it made the most sense to close them and focus on other ways we can best serve our customers, including nearby Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores as well as online”.

Founded in 1901, Nordstrom operates 380 stores across 40 US states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
