In 1970, Paul Smith opened his first location at Nottingham. Over time, he would develop his clothing line into one of the most respected luxury brands in the business. References to his well tailored clothes have been made in media and books like Candace Bushnell's *One Fifth Avenue*.

As Paul Smith prepares to relocate to a new home in London's Haymarket, a replica of the first store will be presented in the basement of Dover Street Market. The three by three meters cube will be filled with an ever-changing selection of objects made to capture the market stall aesthetic.

Dover Street Market originally opened in 2004, with the concept for it based on Rei Kawakubo's love for Kensington Market which she visited back in the 1960s. Smith won't have to disassemble and reassemble his cube everyday despite the changing selection, because it has been designed as a Meccan-like kit that can change layout to match its contents.

In January, Paul Smith moved his store from New York's Flatiron District where it was located for 25 years down to Greenwich Village. The company is still searching for a permanent store. In terms of his future stores, it was reported last year after he announced that he'd be consolidating his label into two lines, and that his new stores would include more neon accents and raw materials.

For those nostalgic for that old school feel to Paul Smith boutiques, the Dover Street Market store will satisfy that longing.
