Stella McCartney opens Madison Avenue flagship

Stella McCartney has opened a new flagship store on Madison Avenue continuing the roll out of her new store design concept first introduced this summer. This second New York location for the brand joins the downtown SoHo store on Greene Street, and marks the new phase on the brand’s recent retail expansion with openings in Paris, Florence and South Coast Plaza.

Reflecting on the brand’s commitment to sustainability within a more intimate atmosphere, the new store concept draws inspiration from Stella’s personal archive of images with designs that bring a more personalized experience to the retail environment. Efforts were made to use more handmade, organic and sustainably sourced elements.

The new Madison Avenue flagship store’s original historical façade has been preserved and restored, featuring two traditional glass vitrines, repaired stone elements and bronze metalwork with signage gold leafed in limestone. Bespoke Gio Ponti enamel door handles embellish the entrance of the 4,340 square foot store. A planted balcony overlooks Madison Avenue and provides greenery for the shop front. A double height lounge with an oversized skylight opening provides an intimate space bringing natural brightness to the women’s ready-to-wear.

As the brand’s ninth location in the US, the Madison Avenue store will carry the brand’s women’s collections and kidswear. Meanwhile the SoHo location carrying the same product categories will also now include the newly launched menswear collections.
