American retail corporation Target has announced its upcoming campaign The Fall Designer Collection, featuring four prospective designers who will act as design partners for the coming season.
The collection will include designs by rising names Rachel Comey, Victor Glemaud, Sandy Liang and Nili Lotan, with each one bringing their signature aesthetic to the pieces available. The collection is set to feature more than 180 contemporary fall wardrobe must-haves, all within an affordable budget.
Target’s executive vice president Jill Sando said in a statement: “For the past 20 years, our guests have continued to express excitement when we introduce them to new and emerging designers from across the globe, all at an incredible value. This fall, we’re building upon that legacy and bringing together four dynamic and highly-regarded designers to introduce a collection of inclusive, on-trend and timeless fashion staples to re-energise guests’ wardrobes for the fall season.”
Target has previously collaborated on collections with iconic designers like Missoni, Anna Sui and Zac Posen, to name just a few. This year its focus is on rising designers making a statement today. Each one holds a very individual aesthetic, Victor Glemaud focuses on bold colour blocking whereas Nili Lotan’s designs tend to reflect a more minimalistic style.
Sandy Liang, whose designs offer a mix of both versatility and childhood wonder, is one of the newest out of the collective. Her brand launched in 2014, initially rooted in outerwear and her personal identity and upbringing. She has since worked with Vans as the guest designer of a capsule collection and continues to build up the Liang brand from her New York City base.
“My brand is inspired by nostalgic moments from my childhood, and when the opportunity to collaborate with Target on a fall fashion collection came about, I knew it was a perfect fit as I’ve always admired their collaborations,” Laing said in Target’s announcement. “I’m thrilled to be able to bring my designs to such a broad audience and hope that they encourage Target’s guests to have fun with their fashion and not take themselves too seriously.”
The goal of the collection is to make designs that endure a multitude of seasons, with products that fall in line with Target’s inclusivity mission. Sizes range from XXS to 4XL and will be available from September to purchase in select Target stores and online, marking the beginning of the new season.
