For over 60 years, the State School of Fashion Design in Stuttgart has been providing students with the technical and social skills they need to be successful in today’s fashion industry. Fashion is an ever-changing, multifaceted business that requires its “players” to bring creativity, intuition, a willingness to take risks, extensive technological know-how and a wide variety of other competencies to the table.

To meet these demanding requirements, our school offers its students modern, state-of-the-art classrooms and workspaces (media and CAD laboratories, factory equipment) and a team of 10 highly-qualified teachers coming from various sectors of international fashion companies. In addition to weekly lessons (39 hours), visits to trade fairs, company tours, guest speakers, excursions and info trips to cultural events round out the educational experience. Students also take part in competitions, fashion shows, exhibitions and classroom projects.

Your education with us begins at the end of August and lasts 2 years. The maximum class size is 24, so you will receive the individual attention you need to develop your skills in the following subjects: Costume history, Figure drawing, Fashion illustration, Conceptual design, CAD-design, Manual patternmaking, CAD-patternmaking, Draping, Production technology, Business organization, Technology, Business administration, and Technical and business English. Please be aware that the classroom language is German.

The job description of a product developer (fashion) is many-sided and the job prospects as well as opportunities for the future are very good. Our graduates predominantly begin their careers in the fashion industry or in a related field in positions such as: Product manager (DOB, HAKA, Kids, Sportswear, Lingerie), Fashion designer, Team leader, Costume designer, Fashion journalist, employee of an Advertising agency/New agency/Styling agency, Stylist, or Freelance designer of their very own collection.
