Cato same-store sales up 4 percent

The Cato Corporation has reported sales of 84.7 million dollars for the four weeks ended February 27, 2016, a 5 percent increase over sales of 80.5 million for the four week period ended February 28, 2015. Same-store sales for the month increased 4 percent from the prior year.

“February sales were significantly higher due to favourable sales comparisons because of the impact of weather to last year's results," stated John Cato, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

As of February 27, 2016, the company operated 1,372 stores in 32 states, compared to 1,348 stores in 32 states as of February 28, 2015.
