Bonmarché taps Helen Connolly as Chief Executive Officer

Bonmarché has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer following the departure of its former CEO, Beth Butterwick last Decemeber. The value fashion retailer has named Helen Connolly, senior buying director for George at Asda, to succeed Butterwick.

Connolly is set to take up her new role at Bonmarché later this year, and "a further announcement will be made at the relevant time," said the retailer in a statement. "We are delighted to be appointing someone of Helen’s calibre and experience to Bonmarché," added John Coleman, Chairman of Bonmarché Holdings. "With a strong track record in delivering exceptional results, Helen is an ambitious, talented and passionate individual who will make an outstanding leader for the business."

Prior to being named senior buying director at Asda, Connolly was category director for buying and design as well as buying manager of womenswear for George at Asda. She first cut her teeth working in the industry as a buyer at Next, where she stayed until 2003 before joininh the team at Asda.

"Helen’s expertise in buying, merchandising, sourcing, product, and business development is first-class, and she has demonstrated a dedicated focus on delivering a high quality consumer experience," continued Coleman. "We look forward to welcoming her to Bonmarché and working with her to deliver further progress for the brand and the Company."
