Old Navy recently just made a new executive change. The American brand has tapped the talents of Sonia Syngal for the position of global president.

It hasn’t been the most successful period of time for the brand. In the past couple of months, Old Navy has been declining in sales across the board. However, the new change can be a source of hope for the traditional brand to mix things up. “How we continue to transform our product engine, focused on balancing amazing product with operational excellence, will be key to unlocking Old Navy’s next phase of growth,” Syngal told Apparel News. Syngal previously worked with the company years before while she was employed at Gap Inc. She served as vice president of global supply chain and product operations for the company, as reported by Apparel News. Her work required her to work with Old Navy as well in order to develop new product-to-market models. Due to her familiarity with brand and the company, it will be an easy transition for Syngal to fit in her role.

The San Francisco-based company established itself in 1994. The retailer sells menswear, womenswear, accessories, and more at affordable prices. Currently, the company operates over 1,000 stores globally. Although established as a renown brand, in recent months Old Navy has been declining in its sales. Through this new hire, the company will attempt to remedy this with a new product and operations focus.
