Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo has established

a fashion foundation to support new talents as well as preserve and educate on the label’s heritage and the values on which the late namesake founder demonstrated in his life and work.

Entitled, Fondazione Ferragamo, the foundation will be based in Florence and is headed up by Ferragamo’s widow Wanda Miletti Ferragamo who has been named the foundation’s chairwoman.

The foundation will offer training and support, as well as grant awards and scholarships to selected students, and organise cultural events to promote awareness of the brand’s heritage in collaboration with the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.

“Young people are the engine of any society, the force that ensures continuity and the future,” Wanda Ferragamo told WWD. “However, they must have the chance to demonstrate their worth and their abilities. Adults, institutions and businesses are responsible for giving them these opportunities and providing them with know-how, creativity, technology and, above all, the desire to move forward, to overcome all obstacles, values exemplified by my husband’s life and his life’s work.”
