Luxury fashion house Prada has launched an international literary contest in

partnership with Italian publishing house Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore to search for a budding writer who sees the “world with a unique, rare gaze”.

The inaugural ‘Prada Journal’ project, part of the fashion houses continued interest in promoting cultural activities and sponsoring young artists, is calling on all budding authors to submit essays via its website, with their interpretation of the brief, which poses the question – “What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?”

The concept behind the contest has been inspired by the metaphor of prescription glasses, where optical eyewear acts as a tool to “investigate diverse creative worlds”, and to challenge writers to “explore and enhance the individual interpretation of reality" through the written word.

Budding writers have until June 18 to submit their essay, in their native language, via the website, and according to the terms and conditions, the contest winner or winners will each receive 5,000 euros, and their essay will be published as a digital book available to read via the Prada website.
