De Rigo Vision, Italian leading manufacturer and distributor of high-end sunglasses, has completed the acquisition of the entire capital of American peer Rem Eyewear.

The entity resulting from the acquisition will be called Rem De Rigo and will help to strengthen the brand international expansion and current projects of the Italian parent abroad.

De Rigo Vision has bought all the shares of the brand of American optical fashion, also getting the distribution rights and licences for brands such as Converse, John Varvatos, Lucky Brand, Jones New York and Jonathan Adler, which were until now owned by Rem Eyewear.

Ennio De Rigo, founder and president of Grupo De Rigo explains the transaction stressing that there is a strong affinity between the two companies. "We share a culture of family business, which is one of the keys to success. Uniting the cultural heritage of the company directed by Mike Hundert and Donna Gindy will strengthen our global distribution capabilities."

The nonagenarian Gerry Hundert, president of Rem, spoke of the "culmination of 45 years of work, to ensure the future of our business and professional development of people," in a joint statement issued on Wednesday.

"We will be able to strengthen the presence on American soil - said Mike Hundert, CEO of the company based in Los Angeles - thanks to the stability of the brands owned by De Rigo Vision".
