Los Angeles - Modern, luxury brand Maiyet just recently lost its newest creative director. Declan Kearney, who joined the sustainable fashion company over a year ago, just announced that he would be leaving his role.

Kearney did not state a personal or professional reason for his departure. Maiyet has been transforming as a brand using new, innovative ideas including creating a luxury house that partners with crafters in various areas of the world. “It is an amazing brand, wrapped around a unique and noble idea, and I wish everyone continued success in the future,” Kearney told WWD.

His responsibilities as creative director included ready-to-wear lines, accessories, and campaigns for the brand. He also was in charge of staying in line with Maiyet’s mission of teaming up with various creatives and craftsmen in developing countries. The company recently switched to a direct-to-consumer model, changing from the old classic routes of the fashion industry. Although not confirmed, a source close to the company told WWD that Maiyet’s change of business model could be why Kearney decided to leave.

Maiyet, which launched in 2011, was founded by Kirsty Caylor and Paul van Zyl. The Maiyet team partners with artisans from Japan, Bolivia, Thailand, Italy, Kenya, Indonesia, and more. Together, the fashion brand is able to provide the sophisticated, stylish clothing it offers today. However, with Kearney stepping out of his role, the brand will have to find a new successor to continue its mission.
