NikeLab and Riccardo Tisci, creative director of Givenchy, have joined forces once again with the design of a new capsule collection called NikeLab x RT: Training Redefined. This is the second time Nike and Tisci have worked together. Their first collaboration was in 2014 on the Riccardo Tisci x Nike Air Force 1 RT footwear collection.

The footwear and apparel collections will launch in two phases, divided by two different aesthetics. The first collection is a study in Tisci’s signature black and white palet, while the second utilises vibrant colours and floral prints, inspired by blooms from Nike’s home state of Oregon, Tisci’s home of Taranto in Italy, and of Rio de Janeiro, host of this year’s summer Olympics.

Inspired by the Olympics, the collection employs Nike’s performance technologies such as Dri-FIT and Flyknit, with streamlined and modern silhouettes for optimal comfort and style.

”This collection represents an entirely new way of thinking for Riccardo,” said NikeLab Senior Design Director Jarrett Reynolds. “It is engineered for performance, which is unfamiliar territory for him. But that’s the beauty of collaboration - we can help bring Riccardo into the world of sport performance, which is our expertise. On the other hand, Riccardo’s vision pushed our design to a place we wouldn’t have arrived on our own.”

The first collection will launch on July 7, while the launch of the second phase is planned for August.
