Nigel Barker to host Global Fashion Awards

Nigel Barker, best known internationally as noted fashion

photographer and America’s Next Top Model judge, has been announced as the host of the world’s first WGSN Global Fashion Awards.

The Global Fashion Awards 2010 will take place at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria in New York on 10 November 2010. The Awards event will honour fashion’s most inspirational, innovative individuals and businesses from around the globe. The categories cover all the major business and creative disciplines in fashion, including design, retail, buying, visual merchandising, store design, marketing and ethical practice.

Barker is the perfect choice to host the inaugural awards show. In addition to directing and producing numerous films and appearing in several television programmes including Ugly Betty, the British photographer, filmmaker and author has also taken the worlds of fashion, beauty and entertainment by storm as a judge on hit show America’s Next Top Model.

The nominees across all 17 categories were chosen by an expert panel of judges, made up of some of the most influential people in the fashion industry. Harvey Nichols, Net-a-Porter, Topshop, William Tempest, my-wardrobe.com and Marc Jacobs are only some of the big names vying to win a Global Fashion Award - a Waterford crystal trophy designed exclusively by John Rocha.
