James Franco to shoot fashion ad campaign

Los Angeles-based clothing company, 7 For All Mankind,

has hired actor James Franco to photograph and direct its upcoming multimedia spring ad campaign.

This is Franco's first time working for the brand, and also marks his first time shooting an advertising campaign. The shoot will take place in Los Angeles in December and will feature a cast including both celebrities and models, portray a free-spirited and glamorous California lifestyle. The campaign debuts in March 2012 magazines and the video portion of the campaign will go live online around the same time.

"We want to tell our story about our California roots and James Franco so embodies the ideals of California," said 7 For All Mankind's President Barry Miguel.  "He was born and raised and California and he encapsulates that idea of freedom of expression and being modern in California."

"For me, it's an excuse to be creative.  It's about having the opportunity to be creative in a new way," added Franco.

Founded in 2000, 7 For All Mankind, a division of VF Contemporary Brands, Inc., offers denim, sportswear and accessories collections for men, women and kids in over 80 countries worldwide.

Previously, Franco has modelled for brands including Gucci, and photographed editorial spreads for Elle magazine.
