The 13 up-and-coming designers who will compete for the 2012

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has been released, and includes Wes Gordon, Tabitha Simmons, and Suno’s Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty.

The fund, which was established in 2003 to help emerging American designers find success through financial support and guidance, kicks off the competition at the end of the month when all 13 finalists will present their current collections to a panel of judges.

The competition then continues with a host of other challenges, including creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery for Tiffany & Co. and staging a catwalk show in Los Angeles.

For successfully completing these challenges and being crowned the winner, the designer will follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Joseph Altuzarra who won $300,000. Plus it isn’t just the winner who receives financial aid, last year’s runners-up, Pamela Love and Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters, took home $100,000, and they also will received a business mentorship from a fashion leader like Diane von Furstenberg or Mickey Drexler.

This year’s finalists are: Andrea Lieberman - A.L.C.; Greg Armas - Assembly New York; Sofia SizziGiulietta; Justin Salguero, Daniel Silberman, and Alina SilbermanIllesteva; Jennifer Fisher - Jennifer Fisher Jewelry; Jennifer Meyer Maguire, - Jennifer Meyer; Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty – Suno; Tabitha Simmons - Tabitha Simmons; Greg Chait - The Elder Statesman; and Wes Gordon - Wes Gordon.

This year's winner and runners-up will be announced in November at a gala dinner.
