Burberry CEO highest paid UK exec

Jun 12, 2013

Burberry's Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts is the highest paid executive in the UK,

not to mention the highest paid women, in a FTSE-100 company.

Ahrendts, who hails from America, saw her salary package come to 16.9 million pounds last year.

According to sources, Ahrendts earned a basic salary of 990,000 pounds and was given a 2 million pound bonus. Most of her remuneration package came from 11.9 million pounds of shares sold from maturing long-term incentive plans, the London Evening Standard reported.

A spokesman for Burberry said she had "delivered record revenue and profit" for shareholders.

Ahrends, who succeeded Rose-Marie Bravo at Burberry, has helped to turn it into one of the world's most powerful luxury giants in the seven years since joining the company. Burberry is considered to be worth in excess of 6 billion pounds and arguably the UK's most successful global luxury brand.

Ahrendts, who was born in Indiana, previously held executive positions at Donna Karan International and Liz Claiborne before joining Burberry in 2006.
