Italian luxury house Fendi is expected to announce today it will fund the restoration of

some of Rome's historical fountains, including the world-renowned Trevi Fountain.

Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi's Creative Director, Silvia Fendi, Fendi chief executive Pietro Beccari and mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno, are expected to host a press conference in the Italian capital to confirm details of the four-year Fendi for Fountains plan, reports WWD.

"We are proud of being tied to the city, but I believe not everyone knows, and this is a great occasion to do something for the city that hosts us," said Beccari. "Rome is a home of Made in Italy. There's an incredible savoir faire, but as well it's a source of inspiration for many."

Restoration on the fountain is due to begin in spring. Four other damaged fountains will also be reconstructed under the initiative, but they have yet to be named.

The project may culminate with a Fendi fashion show staged in front of the Trevi Fountain in 2015, which marks the 90th anniversary of the brand.
