Gucci has won a legal dispute concerning its trademark and use of its intellectual

property rights.

The Florentine fashion house saw a court grant an injunction prohibiting handbags and accessories company ToBeG, created by Guccio Gucci and his brother Alessandro, who are great-grandsons of the Gucci brand’s founder, to use the name “Gucci” and “Guccio Gucci” for its marketing purposes.

The judge ruled that use of the name “Guccio Gucci”, created “an unfair association” among ToBeG products and those of Gucci, and also declared that the behavior of the former created unfair competition that was detrimental to Gucci, led by CEO Patrizio di Marco, because it took advantage of the reputation of the luxury brand’s reputation.
