With the launch of new wearable technologies and smartphone pay systems, its only a matter of time before

stores begin to upgrade their systems to meet consumer demand.

Spanish high street retailer Inditex is one of the first companies testing virtual mirrors that allow customers to ‘try on’ clothes, according to a Retail Week report.

Additionally, the group, which operates Zara and Pull & Bear, is also trialling self-service terminals where shoppers would be able to remove RFID security tags and pay for items themselves, much like self service tills in supermarkets.

Both are being tested at its Arteixo headquarters in Spain, but Inditex has already piloted self-scanners with limited runs inside a handful of its stores, the report noted.

A mobile payment plan and 3D window projections are also said to be in the works.
