Karl Lagerfeld has canceled his Lagerfeld fashion show, WWD reports. Instead of showing on

October 3 as part of Paris Fashion Week, the designer will create a "masstige" ready-to-wear collection that will be sold online.

Lagerfeld plans to pour his creativity into his new collection, based on the idea of "mass elitism." The Lagerfeld company, owned by Apax Partners, said negotiations are under way "for the distribution and production of the designer's new vision." The new line is expected to be ready for the fall/winter 2011 season.

According to British Vogue, the line will be more commercial and Lagerfeld will have less direct involvement.
