Spanish fashion label Mango is the latest high street retailer to be in the middle of a social media controversy due to the design of one

of its garments.

The fashion brand has come under fire for offering a women's wear blouse featuring a black lightening bolt motif, which is said to bear a strong resemblance the symbol worn by the Schutzstaffel (SS), the Nazi party's personal security squadron during the Second World War.

The double lightning bolt symbol was most commonly seen on the uniforms from Nazi officials and higher ranking officers.

After receiving a number of complaints from users online, Mango has issued an apology, adding that it “regrets the unfortunate association which was caused by the design of the blouse.”

However the Spanish fashion label will not remove the blouse from its collections, as it is a larger collection bearing different patterned motifs, which also included hearts, stars and polka dots.
