Fashion entrepreneur Tamara Mellon is considering buying back

Jimmy Choo, the shoe business she founded 16 years ago. A handful of sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and private individuals are understood to have already approached Ms Mellon about backing her in a £500m bid.

She is said to be weighing up whether she should lead a bid, alongside Joshua Schulman, chief executive of Jimmy Choo, a brand made famous by frequent mentions in the Sex and the City television series.

In November 2004 the company was acquired by Hicks Muse who announced the majority acquisition of Jimmy Choo. Jimmy Choo, the designer, sold his 50% stake in 2001 for £10m and has since focused on his couture line.
