Timberland taps new brand president amidst management changes

Lifestyle label Timberland has appointed Stewart Whitney as its brand president,

effective from October 5.

Whitney, who has spearheaded the label's growth in the Asia Pacific region since 2008, is set to report to Patrik Frisk, who was named coalition president for parent company VF Corporation Outdoor division for the Americas last April.

Prior to leading Timberland's Asia business arm, Whitney was part of Timberland's global marketing team, where he went to taken on leadership roles in product, sales and general management.

“Stewart’s 14-year tenure at Timberland, balanced leadership style and brand perspective are uniquely positioned to help drive sustainable, long-term growth,” commented Patrik Frisk. “While in Asia, he’s led the significant expansion of our direct-to-consumer footprint in a way that showcases the breadth of our product offerings and aligns with our consumer – all while ensuring Timberland’s unique values and culture have thrived within our Asian team.”

“We’re excited to welcome Stewart to the brand’s top position, and look forward to his many contributions as the Timberland brand enters into its next chapter of growth.” Whitney will be succeeded by John Gearing, who joined VF's Asia Pacific branch in 2011.

Timberland has also announced the internal promotion of three leaders within its team to help strengthen Timberland ongoing expansion scheme. Lisa Demarkis, former global vice president of footwear will take on the newly creates role of global vice president of product, overseeing footwear and apparel product creation.

Chris Pawlus, senior global creative director has been promoted to vice president, global product creative director and is set to oversee both footwear and apparel. Lastly, Jeff Thompson, current vice president, global footwear product development, has been promoted to vice president of footwear, and will be in charge of product management, development, engineering, materials and costing.

“These promotions enhance our ability to deliver authentic, trend-right footwear and apparel collections that resonate around the world. This is the next generation of Timberland, and I can’t imagine a more passionate or talented team to get us there,” concluded Frisk.
