Mixed response to Hedi Slimane's second women's collection for Saint Laurent shown on Monday in Paris. California grunge was the main theme and the collection was set up as an extension of the menswear showed in January.

"Almost nothing looked new," reported Style.com.

"There were many pieces that looked commercially lucrative. (...) The connection of grunge to Mr. Saint Laurent was less clear." wrote Eric Wilson of The New York Times.

The Daily Beast called it "cute". "Although there was that grungy-vibe (flannel shirts and biker boots), it was girly, young even. There were peter pan collars, baby doll dresses, and hemlines reminiscent of Courtney Love – but, unfortunately, won’t be kind to anyone over the age of 30."

And those under 30 loved it. "That's the way I dress anyway," one said. And "It's easy to imagine babes like Erin Wasson and Sky Ferreira (who sat front row) making it their own."
