British fashion retailer Ted Baker opened its first store in Japan over the weekend in the Omotesando district of Tokyo. The 5,750 sq ft flagship store spans across two floors and offers menswear, womenswear and accessories.

The store’s ‘analog meets digital’ design concept features communication devices from the 1950s such as radios, typewriters and telephones, as well as a switchboard on the staircase heading to the basement floor, where customers can plug in cables to listen to messages from Ted Baker's designer.

Another highlight of the store is a London-style black cab where customers can pose and take photographs.

"We are very excited to be opening our first store in Japan in Omotesando. This is a big opportunity for Ted and we are very proud of the bespoke store design which is designed to surprise and delight with lots of quirky Ted touches to be discovered along the way," said Ted Baker CEO Ray Kelvin.

"We hope that Tokyo shoppers will be enchanted by both the store and the collections and walk away as loyal Ted Baker devotees."

The retailer, which operates other stores in Asia including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, has also launched a dedicated Japanese website, as well as social media streams to promote the new store.
