LIM College, which is located in New York City and focused exclusively on the study of business and fashion, has announced that registration is now open for its 2016 Summer Fashion Lab program for high school and visiting college students, as well as a newly-created one-week program for students ages 11-13.

New courses in LIM College’s 2016 Summer Fashion Lab for high school and visiting college students include: Pop Culture’s Influence on Fashion, Street Style, and Career Development & Personal Branding. Popular returning courses include: Fashion Magazines, The Stylist’s Role, and Fashion Blogger Boot Camp. This program will run for four consecutive weeks, from July 11–August 5. Non-credit courses are $250 each and courses that offer college credit are $425. Participants are permitted to register for a total of up to eight non-credit courses, or up to two credit-bearing courses.

LIM is also launching a new program exclusively for students who are 11-13 years old. This one-week workshop, known as Middle School Summer Lab, will take place August 8 –12 and will cover merchandising, buying, visual merchandising and styling. Guest speakers from the fashion world and field trips to fashion companies will also be featured. The cost of Middle School Summer Lab is $800, which includes lunch, chaperones, transportation, field trips and supplies.

According to LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse, “Our Summer Fashion Lab has a long tradition of giving high school and visiting college students the exciting opportunity to study fashion in New York City and learn firsthand about the many exciting career paths the fashion business has to offer. We’re finding that students are becoming interested in the fashion business even before they enter high school, so we’re adding a workshop for middle school students to also learn directly from industry professionals and get a jump-start on their future.”

This year, LIM College expects to enroll a record-setting 400+ students in its Summer Fashion Lab program for high school and visiting college students. Last year, students came from as far away as Poland, Mexico, Brazil, California, Oregon, Texas and Montana to participate.

LIM College offers housing to students in the high school and visiting college student program at its residence hall on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for $550 per week. The residence hall has staff on duty around the clock and features air-conditioned double and triple rooms with private bathrooms. Students who stay in the residence hall can also take part in activities such as New York City sightseeing tours and outings to Broadway shows.
