The Global Design Graduate Show 2021 reveals ‘public vote’ winners

Media company ArtsThread and Italian luxury fashion house Gucci have announced the winners of the Global Design Graduate Show 2021.

There were four categories in the competition including ‘Fashion/Accessories/Textiles’, ‘Fine Art/Photography/Craft’, ‘Digital/Visual Communication/Film’ and ‘Product Design/Architecture/Interiors’.

5,221 art and design undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates from 109 nationalities entered their work to be considered for the competition, out of those, 500 students were shortlisted for their work to be judged by 140 industry professionals.

By taking part in the competition, students were given the chance to showcase their work to industry professionals and have the chance to be offered opportunities such as internships and art and design residencies, according to a statement.

As well as the judge’s votes, 172,877 votes were cast by the public.

Fashion/Accessories/Textiles: Ana Isabel Quintão Gomes Kunal, Academy of Art University, San Francisco

Fine Art/Photography/Craft: Layla Arthur, Minerva Art Academy – Hanze, Groningen

Digital/Visual Communication/Film: Shaun Alagoa, De Montfort University, Leicester

Product Design/Architecture/Interiors: Varaniyaa Umamaheswaran, De Montfort University, Leicester

Details for the next competition will be announced in early 2022 and students graduating in the year 2021-2022 will be able to send in their applications.
