Chatelles was born of passion: François fell in love with a girl to whom he decided to offer a pair of slippers that had been specially designed just for her. Engraved on the inside of these slippers was the following verse by Victor Hugo: "I CANNOT LIVE... FAR AWAY FROM YOU ANY LONGER." The thunder struck immediately.
